Research Paper - Frederick Douglass in Your PaperIf you have a topic for a research paper, then why not try and make it even more interesting by including Frederick Douglass in your research? There are so many important events and ideas that he has contributed to the world that it will be a great idea to read about them in his own words. Also, Douglass is a good role model and would be good material for a book. If you use some of his ideas in your research paper, then you will have added value to your topic.Douglass was born in 1818 in Maryland, but he spent most of his life in France. He first came to America as a prisoner of war, which is where he got his start in writing and speaking his opinions. In America, he worked on plantations, generally, being employed as a kind of servant, which enabled him to use his experiences in writing and speaking. After several years in America, he returned to Europe and started studying law. During this time, he was a lawyer, as well as an editor o f a magazine. He wrote a number of books and essays on various subjects, including slavery and inequality, which included some aspects of racism in America. In fact, he had no problem with people, even white people, when it came to discussing these things. While some would consider his racism as a result of his upbringing and because of his cultural differences, others say that it was simply the fact that he was born into a slave. Whatever the case, he did not hold such views after he escaped from the plantations, although there are those who believe that he may have been indirectly responsible for the first lynching.Douglass later moved to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where he became an editor for a period of time. His pen has a famous saying 'The pen is mightier than the sword'. He eventually went on to study at Harvard, and later at Oxford University, both of which are regarded as two of the best universities in the world. It is interesting to note that many people still look to Doug lass as an inspiration and a role model today. He is considered a prominent historical figure, yet many of his views and his words are still used today. If you want to read some quotes from him, which are taken from some of his books, you can do so online, and they are all free to view. When researching any topics, whether it is a thesis, short report, or other type of paper, it is always a good reference material to get the words of Frederick Douglass in your research. It will be interesting to read what he had to say about the world today, the injustices that are being experienced by African Americans, and his stance on equality in America.
